Biomedical Waste management
Sustainable Biomedical Waste Solutions for Kenya
About the Program
By putting creative and sustainable solutions into practice, we at Green Globe Realisation are actively tackling Kenya's pressing biomedical waste management problem. In order to guarantee precise waste classification at healthcare facilities and lessen the common problem of waste mixing, we implement sophisticated segregation systems with color-coded bins, utilizing the frameworks of the Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA) of 1999 and the Biomedical Waste Management Rules of 2016. Our cutting-edge incineration and alternative treatment technologies offer safe, legal disposal of hazardous waste, including chemical, infectious, pathological, and sharps materials. To close gaps in capacity and compliance, we collaborate with private facilities in Nairobi County as well as public hospitals like Kenyatta National Hospital to build shared treatment facilities, train medical staff, and improve infrastructure.

Program Objectives
Ensure safe collection, segregation, and disposal of biomedical waste in healthcare and community settings.
Reduce environmental and health risks through proper handling of infectious and hazardous medical waste.
Build capacity of health workers through training on biomedical waste protocols and best practices.
Promote policy compliance and awareness on sustainable biomedical waste management at all institutional levels.
